This June, FrontFundr is inviting investors, founders, advisors, incubators, accelerators, and ecosystem partners across Canada to help identify high-potential companies ready to raise capital and scale.
Canada’s next breakout startups are already being built across the country. The opportunity is not simply to recognize them—but to ensure they can access the capital and community support needed to grow.
The Back the Next Canadian Startup Challenge is a nationwide initiative designed to expand awareness of equity crowdfunding as a way for founders to raise capital directly from the people who already believe in them—customers, supporters, and their broader community.
Through this initiative, one standout company will be selected to receive a fully supported FrontFundr campaign launch with no upfront fees, helping remove early barriers to accessing community capital.
Across Canada’s incubators, accelerators, and professional networks, high-potential startups are actively building and preparing to raise capital.
The Back the Next Canadian Startup Challenge helps these companies access an underutilized source of capital—their own community—while also connecting them to FrontFundr’s platform and a nationwide investor base.
It is designed to support founders actively preparing to raise by expanding awareness of community-powered investing as a practical and scalable way to fund growth.
FrontFundr is one of Canada’s leading equity crowdfunding platforms, helping startups and growth-stage companies raise capital online while building communities of customers, supporters, and investors.
To date, companies on FrontFundr have raised $365M+ across 300+ campaigns, supported by a community of 72,500+ investors across Canada.

Post on LinkedIn or another social platform, tag FrontFundr and the company or founder, include #BackTheNextCanadianStartup, and share why they should be recognized.
Invite them to apply
If you have a direct relationship with a founder, send them the application form and encourage them to apply directly.
Founder applications
Founders can also nominate themselves by completing the application form.
👉 All companies must submit an application to be considered: https://www.frontfundr.com/canadian-startup-challenge-2026
All applications are reviewed by the FrontFundr team based on key criteria including market opportunity, founder strength, readiness to raise capital, and alignment with community investing.
From there, finalists are invited to a live pitch experience in early July, where they present to a panel of ecosystem partners and industry experts from across Canada’s startup and investment community.
Following the pitch session, one standout company will be selected to receive a fully supported FrontFundr campaign launch with no upfront fees—unlocking the opportunity to raise capital directly from their community and FrontFundr’s 70,000+ investors across Canada.
Select applicants who strongly align with community investing may also be invited to list on FrontFundr. With an acceptance rate of less than 3%, selection represents meaningful validation and direct access to Canada’s leading equity crowdfunding platform.
The Back the Next Canadian Startup Challenge is part of FrontFundr’s mission to expand access to capital and strengthen the connection between founders and their communities.
